DIY Miniature Leopard Stocking

Hello crafters!

I just love the holiday times & getting ready for Christmas!  Don't you?  Well, at this moment I'm also working on a new craft, and decided it's just a perfect time to live-type out this blog post while in the middle of making this craft.

So, right now i'm attempting to make some leopard print stockings (similar to one I have in real life).  I'm pretty much just planning to make them like some other red & white stockings I've made which I will soon be doing a tutorial on!

In these pictures you can see I just cut out an almost-triangle shape out of red felt.  I'm trimming around the edges to make it into a perfect stocking shape.  I normally visualise a stocking shape to cut it out in the felt, but if you can't visualise it, drawing out a stocking shape on paper, cutting it out, and using it as a template for the felt might also work too!  I then kind of trimmed the front and backs of the stockings to get rid of any fuzzy felt pieces.

Next, it's tine to start sewing!  Make sure to get out your leopard fabric!  Don't forget some red & brown thread!

I just cut out a strip of leopard fabric about one and a half inches long.  Then, I cut it in half.

In the picture showing the length of leopard fabric cut out you might be able to tell it looks more like two pieces. Well it actually is! I didn't think to measure how long it was until I had cut it in half since most of my minis aren't measured. Anyways, the measurements are close enough.

I then used one piece of the leopard fabric, and folded it over one side of the stocking to make sure it was the right size.  Repeat this step with both stockings . . .

Okay, now relax & turn on some music.  It's time to start sewing!

I'm starting off using red thread to sew the two stocking pieces together.  I cut off a red piece of thread about 24 inches long.  Most likely I don't need this much, but I would rather have too much thread then not enough & having to start over.  I'm going to sew together both pieces of the stockings and stitch them together twice.  No need in talking through it, so I'm just going to take pictures while doing it and show them below.

Finally, I have finished sewing the red part of the stocking!  Any extra threads left visible at the top I just stuffed inside using scissors.  A popsicle stick probably would be safer though.

Now it's time to sew on the leopard print part!  Fold one piece of leopard over one side of the stocking, do the same with the other side.  After that, sew both sides fully together.

Finally, the stocking is fully finished!  I hope you like it! 😀😀
